Eden's Island frustration

The CD Eden's Island by Eden Ahbez was at the top of my Christmas wish list. No one was able to find a copy here in Portland, and, as reported in this forum, it is out of stock in main outlets on-line. Amazon is selling them for $35.00 used. Is this the best one can do?

I talked to Del-Fi a while back about getting this for our store. Unfortunately, due to a lack of interest from the masses and cost issues, there are currently no plans to press new copies.

The one place I ever found the CD or LP of Eden's Island was Amoeba Music in Berkeley. Under "Lounge." Given that there is now an Amoeba on Sunset in LA, you southern folks might give them a try.

I've gotten tons of hard-to-find stuff from them. Sometimes I use their catalogs as a reference; then I scour Amoeba and often find the same item even cheaper! CC helps to know what even exists out there..

Done and done. Eden's Island is ordered and I also found the Steve Lawrence/Eydie Gorme Christmas Album we have been looking for for years. You guys are the greatest.

Crap. Collectors Music Choice sent the Steve and Eydie CD with the note--Ahbez, Eden: Eden's Island Sorry, item is no longer available. The search goes on. At least I have the MP3 download. The song Myna Bird really sticks in my head. What is that instrument? The pan flute?

Okay, I don't want to create a big rush here, but not too long ago (early December?) I saw a used copy at Amoeba on Haight St. In the "lounge/loungecore" section...

I got mine the week it came out at Tower Records of all places. You may want to check Tower, as it is quite possible each Tower location got a copy or two when it was released, and might still have one.

I also found a company that issues it on LP called Munster Records. I emailed them and they take paypal but I have not made the purchase yet!

Thanks for offering to help. I have come up with the CD so frustration is under control.

I scored a mint copy of "Eden's Island" on cd today for just a buck! If you have an interest in this hard-to-find recording, e-mail me directly and we'll 'talk'...

In an interesting development, I happen to have located two Eden's Island CDs and snapped them up. I'll probably eBay them soon.

Note: they are actual real copies of the CD, not burned copies sold at dutch auction... ahem. (My apologies, but that joke never stops being funny for me...)
