I just have to say how lucky I am. Here in East Tennessee there is a little AM station that's been playing country for over 50 years. This morning they played mostly Elvis (they played a local boy's record "Shotgun Boogey" a fella from Bristol named Ernie Ford) and just sat around talking about the strange life of Mr. Presley. It must be a real rarity for a station to play old country these days and have that kind of freedom. And they are owned by Clear Channel, which suprises and scares me. |

"HOLD IT! Let's get one thing straight here, or I'm walking, too! I don't work January the eighth... 'cause that's Elvis' birthday!" -Gary Busey, from the film "DC Cab" [ Edited by: Trader_Rick on 2003-01-08 10:53 ] |

I actually remember Bill Maher more for his role in DC Cab than I remember him as the host of Politically Incorrect. Oh yeah, when I used to do my radio show, I would start with Gary Busey's quote every time Elvis' b-day rolled around. And I would do an all rockabilly show in honor of the King. |
