a non authentic tiki poem by Chongolio..kinda

A blatant rip off by master poet Chongolio (1965 and still going strong) based the following poem on a fable which was told in darkest jungles of the Lost-Isle many years ago.

It was six monkeys of Chongostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Tiki
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind

The First approached the Tiki,
That happened to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
“Ku bless me! but the Tiki
Is very like a wall!”

The Second, feeling of the torch mark,
Cried, “Ho! what have we here
So very burnt and missin' bark?
To me ’I might regret
This wonder of an wooden god
Is very like a cigarette!”

The Third approached the log,
And happening to take
The *ahem.. wiener within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spake:
“I see,” quoth he, “the Tiki
Is very like a snake!”

The Fourth reached out an eager hand,
And felt about the teeth.
“What most this wondrous grin is like
Is a fence like picket,
‘Tis clear enough the Tiki mouth
Is very like a chicklet!”

The Fifth, who chanced to drink some rum,
came about and touched its bum
I can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can't
This marvel of an tiki
Is he wears wooden pants!”

The Sixth no sooner had begun
About the Tiki to grope,
Than, seizing on the swinging charm
That fell within his scope,
“I see,” quoth he, “the idol
Is attached to a rope!”

And so these monkeys of Chongostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

Moral:

So oft in Polynesian pop wars,
The tikiphiles, I ween,
Rail on in utter passion
Of what each other mean,
And chirp about a Tiki scene
Not one of them has seen!

I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a tiki poem. but this seems authentic and it smell like the real thing.

I would have read it, if it was a Haiku.

Bravo ... perseption of the same event when witnessed through diffent eyes, varies greatly even though they all witnessed the same thing.
