? for the Ft Lauderdale ohana, looking for hotel advice.

Or for all of you that have stayed in and around Lauderdale. My wife and I are looking for recomodations on hotels, motels, tiki shacks etc to stay at.

After looking online I cant tell good from bad other than price. I just want something clean and affordable in or close to Ft. Lauderdale.

we are going on a cruise and then staying a few days on the return end of our trip. We plan on renting a car for the later part of our trip.

Around when is your trip? Just a month will do. Will do what we can to help.

We are getting in on friday feb 24 and the ship leaves sunday 26 , so 2 nights there and then we want to stay from march 5 for 3 nights. Thanks for any help or advice. Have you heard of the Wellesly inn?

Remember... we had years of bad Spring Breaks to ruin many of our hotels. It all depends on how you'd like to stay as much as where. Also, Feb is "the season" so prices won't be low for the good places. Generally, if you can add an address to your finds I'll know 'em. And I'll try and get a list of good places for ya' in the next day or so. Looking for anything special??

I do see that rates are getting higher. Just looking for something that with access to some shopping and tourtisty stuff, clean nice amenities. We have never been to FL.

I work right next to the port and can tell you that there are many hotels to choose from. Some of the more popular hotels for "Cruisers" are on the 17th Street Causeway. The reason is that you can take a cab just about anywhere you want to go fairly cheap (Mai Kai, airport, port, downtown, beach, Las Olas Seminole Hard Rock Casino - are all around 10/15 minutes in a cab).

Hotels close to the port/beach: Bahia Mar, Yankee Clipper, Hyatt Pier 66, Marriott, Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, Embassy Suites... none of these are cheap, but it will make your short visit a nice one.

Once you have a car there are hundreds of smaller motels along the beach. Take your pick they will all soon be condos.

Hey, ya left out the Days Inn Bahia Cabana, on the same side of the street and across the marina from the Bahia Mar. Will try to look in the local hotel guides. The Cabana puts out coupons there every now and then.

While trying to do some research I found a review written by pablus, how many could there be? It was for the riverside hotel on los olas blvd. I think that we may stay there for the second part of our trip. Still looking , but thanks for the help so far.

here's a tip on where NOT to stay -- the Day's Inn with Swanny's Tiki Bar! it was fun having a thatched bar in the parking lot, but the rooms were scaresville! that's the last time we get lured into staying at a hotel b/c it has a tiki bar on site :)
