Does anyone know if there are any "Tiki Events" in the midwesten area of the United States coming up this year? If so, please post.

This Saturday is the grand-reopening celebration of the Aku Tiki Room in Kewanee, IL.

Windy City Islanders are playing at 7:00.

I meant to post about that elsewhere, so thanks for reminding me!

See THAT post (in a few minutes) for details.

Well, it's not 100% tiki, but I've recently starting doing a lounge/exotica dj night in the middle of Illinois. It's called The Atomic Age Cocktail Party and I've got two lined-up in the near future...Sun Jan 29th and Thurs Feb 9th. You can find out more here: http://www.cowboy-monkey.com/cgi-bin/calendar.pl?view=Month&selected_datestring=20060129&datestring=20060129&view=Day

DvA Gallery is having its 2nd Anniversary Tiki Show and Party on Saturday, June 17th from 6-11pm. Should be a blast. Last year was packed. Cocktail Preachers will be playing again. http://www.dvagallery.com

Awesome everyone, keep the posts coming! (On a side note DaTiki, I saw the Cocktail Preachers a few weeks ago, they rock!)

tikibars, I would like to be able to get to that one, but it's far from me, are they having any special promos going on for the re-opening? Will any specialty items be available that you know of?

This is their main site: http://www.cowboy-monkey.com

Here's the blurb for the event:

Sunday, January 29
THE ATOMIC AGE COCKTAIL PARTY
Time: 8:00 pm
Cover: FREE
Details: DJ - Cocktail/Lounge
Hosted by Jason Croft of WEFT's "The Bachelor Pad" and http://www.javasbachelorpad.com "Swank tunes for your jetset life!" Grab your martini shaker, put on that smoking jacket, and get ready to swing, baby! It's lounge, cocktail, exotica, private-eye jazz, and a hint of retro-swing from the likes of Esquivel, Henry Mancini, Don Tiki, Les Baxter, Julie London, Louis Prima and many others. A perfect way to start your weekend. Ring-A-Ding Ding!
