Recently we discovered a shipment of Tahitian hand-carved turtle trinket boxes, black-lipped-pearl oyster polished shell coffers, and assorted other carvings and jewelry from the late 1940's. It all seems different from what is available today. Does anyone know of markets in Tahiti or neighboring islands that are selling similar products? We have posted pictures on an eBay site at: |

Thanks - Since all the objects appear to be individually hand-carved I felt the store option was best for showing the differences. Particularly with the large turtle carvings- every one has a different expression. |
