WAITIKI needs help from Cali/LA folks to plan weekend in Cali!

Aloha friends

So, waitiki is back in full exotica mode after spending much of the last 6 months in "esquivel" mode. We just got back from Mexico too (fotos at http://www.waitiki.com) which was successful and we will likely return to the west for more shows in 2007. (Hollywood bowl has been discussed!)

Back to Exotica/Tiki entertainment: WAITIKI is in discussions with Holden about the Catalina Tiki event which we would love to play. As you all can imagine, it is expensive to bring out a whole band across the US since there are lots of logistical and cost issues and this is the primary kumbu for most of our band members. However, we're thinking that perhaps if we do some club shows the same weekend, we can make it more feasible.

Any HELP from you all about these topics would be helpful in our planning:

Where would the best places for us to play (good crowds, and places that are fit for live music)
Is there decent/cheap lodging nearby to these places?
WHat kind of draw do tiki acts bring to clubs?
Would we be smart to do one show in one part of LA Thurs, and another elsewhere on Fri? (Catalina on Sat; depart sunday for Boston)
Any suggestions on how we might book a private/wedding type event
Anyone willing to volunteer with logistics (street marketing, gear setup/transportation, band transpo)
What types of covers do groups charge out there?

If we can make some additional kumbu that weekend, and share expenses across several venues/gigs, it makes it more feasible.

Mahalo for the help!

Okonkuluku!

Exotica night at the Hollywood Bowl would be incredible!

Almost make me not miss John Mauceri.
