what kind of wood makes for a good tiki?

im not too experienced in this and have so far just been carving some soft woods i have found around our garage and i live in canada so i cant really get any of those woods from out there so i was just wondering if anybody has any ideas about some good carving woods that would be great. |

I like white pine or basswood. Just good, malleable woods that hold detail well.. |

Hey Duddy. I carved some poplar not too long ago... that seemed real nice to carve. Of course I'm no expert like BK...just a fellow Canadian who may be able to speak to the types of logs we have around here. |

The kind grows on trees ......sorry couldnt resist. I have carved cedar or pine and have been happy with both. |

Just about any log you can find will make a good tiki, as long as it is not rotten and full of bugz. Go to your local firewood guy and ask him for some wood, he'll fix you up. |
