im not too experienced in this and have so far just been carving some soft woods i have found around our garage and i live in canada so i cant really get any of those woods from out there so i was just wondering if anybody has any ideas about some good carving woods that would be great.
thank you.

I like white pine or basswood. Just good, malleable woods that hold detail well..

TD

ok and thank you for that. ill try some of those.

Hey Duddy. I carved some poplar not too long ago... that seemed real nice to carve. Of course I'm no expert like BK...just a fellow Canadian who may be able to speak to the types of logs we have around here.

The kind grows on trees ......sorry couldnt resist.

I have carved cedar or pine and have been happy with both.

ok thanks for some of those tips. ill try them out when i get a chance after im finished on the one im doing now.
and rodeo.....nice one haha

Just about any log you can find will make a good tiki, as long as it is not rotten and full of bugz. Go to your local firewood guy and ask him for some wood, he'll fix you up.
