Canada & New England Tiki?

Pages: 1 12 replies

Soccer Tiki and I will be sailing the high seas this Fall aboard the Star Princess. We will be stopping in Halifax, St.John, Bar Harbor, Boston and Newport. Does anyone know of any Tiki Finds or Must Sees in any of these ports?

As far as Boston goes, I don't think so. Bar Harbor--unless it's appeared in the last few months, has bupkis.

I can tell you Newport, RI has zip. There's a place in Newport that claims to have a tiki bar but I can tell you from experience that you'd be lucky to get a properly mixed whiskey sour at this place. Forget a traditional tiki drink. Here's a glimpse inside:

Kowloon in Saugus (just outside Boston) is the closest thing we have to a Tiki Bar, it's Chinese but it is always good food and usually pretty good service. You can buy their mugs, the pineapple has there logo and is super cute. Check out this thread:

And literally within 2-4 miles from Kowloon in Saugus is BALI HAI as well -- found some old mugs for sale while there in Summer 2005!

Any more travel tips? We leave this Friday :)

When we were in Bar Harbor last month, we saw a sign for a "Tiki Bar" at some inn or hotel on Rt. 3. Having baby with us, limits our drinking plans a little so we didn't go. As long as you go in with expectations down around your knees, it might be a place to try. Sorry, I don't remember the name but it was very close to the Acadia Inn.

WooooHoooo! Soccer Tiki have some New England Tiki Finds for all of you East Coasters. Keep your eyes open we will post our oics soon :)

And here's the tiki bar...closed for winter! Bummer!!! No menus or interesting decor to mention! Couldn't get inside!

We did find Jungle Jim's in St. John New Brunswick...
