I am Taking an after Christmas trip to Reno, Nv.. Anyone have any good tips for tiki or mid century modern sites or shopping? Never been to Reno and trying it as a change from Vegas this year. |

Definitely Trader Dick's in Sparks, 3 miles from Reno. In Reno, there are bunches of googie motels. Can't recommend staying at any of them... |

I live in Reno, its pretty dumpy. But like the previous guy said, theres tons of cool googie motels downtown. Theres some neat antique stores downtown also, i've found some pretty neat stuff there. Trader Dicks' is awesome, you can buy a drink for about $5, but if you spend $2 more, then they'll serve it to you in a tiki mug that you can keep, I think they have about 8 different styles. Also, not like it helps any this time of year, but theres a mini golf course with a 25-ft Easter Island Moai, you can see it from the freeway off of S. Virginia St. |
