Pine Log Supply

Pages: 1 4 replies

I'm would like to try ny hand at carving something other than palm.
Does anyone have suggestions where I might find a resonably priced good supply of ponderosa pine in FL.
Any input on how to prevent log splitting would also be appreciated.

Where in FL? Welcome to TC!

Have you tried the local yellow pine? It sure is fun to carve.

Look around and you find other wood that carves even better. Mahogany, ficus, rosewood... just to name a few.

Arghhhh

If you are talking about log splitting from drying after you carve it, you can help the problem by cutting a groove in the back, from the edge all the way to the heart.
