Reputable Tropical flower delivery...???

so a while back I wanted to send my mom a beautiful tropical bouquet and went with
http://www.hawaiian-tropical-flowers.com/index.html
anyhow, the whole transaction was horrid, flowers never got sent, took months for a refund, they never replied to any emails I sent, and never answered their phones.
Anyhow, I never did get mom those flowers, and I think I want to try again.
I'm thinking about one of these companies. Anyone have good experiences or have somewhere really good?

Aloha Pea!
I too have had some "dealings" with Hawaiian-Tropical, but nothing as serious as you mentioned. I have purchased from them 6 or 7 times over the last 2 years. My two "dealings" were... 1) I got the 'regular' sized bouquet when I paid for the 'deluxe', and 2) They substituted gingers for proteas when I had already ordered a bouquet of gingers and didn't need / want any more. I was given a store credit for the full amount for the order they substituted with, not a cash refund.

They never answer their phone, and all communication must be done via email. This is difficult, I understand, as I like to get things straightened out quickly.

My last 2 orders (over $150 each order) were perfect and the flowers proved to be very fresh by lasting for a couple weeks. Even at Christmas time!

I don't have any information on the others you listed. Good Luck! If you do find a great vendor, please let us know!

Mahalo!

Well, this may not be what you had in mind for your mom, but I've ordered from Exotic Orchids of Maui (mauiorchids.com) & I was really happy with the plants I received. Of course, they're plants, not just a bouquet, & she'd have to take care of them, but you'd be surprised at how low care most orchids are (& a nice reminder of the giver).

This place is amazing, they do all kinds of ginger/orchid arrangements but the specialty is leis, and they do the freshest, most beautiful ones I've ever seen. The website doesn't do the leis justice. The lady who runs the place is Hawaiian, her shop keeps getting bigger and better all the time. Good stuff.

(I'm wearing one of their leis to the next Oasis, closer to the event please Tikiwinebear, if yer coming remind me and I'll take orders for a bunch of them and make a Lei run!)

This is the company I have used for my parents anniversary every year since they went to Hawaii for their 45th anniversary:

My mom loves each delivery and enjoys the part where she follows the directions and gets to arrange the flowers herself!
The first few times I had them delivered I called her and made sure they gave her what they showed and they have never failed to deliver nice, long lasting flowers!

My wife and I have used them several times. They even did our wedding. I've had them deliver here to the UK too. Super nice and never any problems!

I second Maui Goose!
Tiki Chris told me about them before my wedding. They very carefully delivered exactly what I wanted, and even called me direct to make sure they arrived in time!

For any of you in the Portland-Vancouver area, Zupan's Markets always has a good selection of fresh tropical flowers. I regularly buy tropicals from them for summer luaus we host and for my wedding anniversary. http://zupans.com/locations.php

i have used a site at

http://www.alohafriends.com

do you remember that blackout in new york a few years ago? well my best friends got married that weekend and the only flowers that made it where the pikake leis i had ordered for them from this place.

i was impressed....

Tiki-Tina and Bamboo Boyd sent me a Beautiful Tropical Flower Arrangement via
http://www.Hallmark.com They lasted forever :)

I once got really awsome flowers from this London flower delivery - they seem to have branches all over the world. A really good friend who I met during an exchange semester sent them to me and as she knows I am into everything tropic the bouquet was full with lovely tropical flowers.

I would always first check with a Florist local to the area (although I understand obtaining tropical flowers in the Pacific Northwest in the winter is a non-starter).

I've had terrific luck with Hawaiian Greenhouse on the Big Island - they grow and ship mostly anthuriums, which are excellent and last for weeks or months. I've sent my aunt anthuriums for Christmas, and damned if she still doesn't have a few at Easter.

I read this thread in the vain hope that someone might deliver to the UK and you came up trumps, Chris! Mahalo!

You missed a great night out in June, by the way... have to plan another...
