I don't know if any besides our close friends knew, but I thought some may find this cool...I am also a huge collector of vintage and antique coffee cans. To date I have over 300 different ones. My wife collects thermoses of all kinds, and has about 170 so far. We also collect original vintage coffee related signs, toys, and trinkets. Here's a few pics of a portion of our collection. Enjoy! |

Ok BK, a tiki bar in the basement and other collections throughout the house? This is starting to remind of the Mr Smiley's UGH house! That brings me to ask, out of curiousity: How many others here collect stuff other than TIKI? I WISH I could collect other stuff but had to decide what my main source of financial ruin would be -- TIKI won. I used to really be into Kung Fu Theatre memorabilia. Rare films, props, etc. But had to forgo that because I couldn't do that AND tiki. I also used to collect Gaming Chips and sold just about all of them so that I could put the money and effort into, guess what? Tiki. Yeah, there's a theme going on here! Plus, my place is too small already to collect anything else -- My 3 tiki mug collection is beginning to overrun my house. BTW BK, "nice cans." **Poly-Pop *** [ Edited by: PolynesianPop on 2003-03-28 08:04 ] |

Those of you who have met me know that I collect vintage bowling shirts. I collect turquoise kitchen items to match my stove, and I also have a growing collection of rotary phones that is taking over my apartment. --cyn |

Well, I too collect all sorts of crap but mainly LAMPS and vintage clothing/jewelery. I've run out of closets and wardrobes so I'm focusing on jewelery especially Venetian hand made glass pieces. That's nice of you Woody but I'd like to make a special call out to all TCers in Canada. Seems all the great cheesy plastic lamps come from there. Why? If you find one please let me know, Thanks, Laney |

I've been collecting 1950's and early 60's furniture and lamps for about three years now. I mostly like the sixties atomic stuff and the fifties fiberglass lampshades. I also collect vintage rockabilly and swing vynal. Of course, Hawaiian and exotica records too. |

Collecting is a disorder. Metlox Aztec dinnerware Ohhhh, the things I want because of this board. On my first official tiki hunt I came back with mugs not of tiki origin though equally expressive. http://community.webshots.com/photo/67843449/67843607CLssBg I also have an affinity for amassing specimens of the four legged creature variety so to keep from becoming a horror story on the local evening news I joined a rescue. Now I make arrangements for each 'piece' to go on permanent loan to qualified members of the local community. It can be hard to let one go but I'm always excited to get another! |

The idea of actually collecting anything has always made me anxious. I'd be haunted by particular items I couldn't find. I acquire stuff. Whatever appeals to me when I come across it. A lot of stuff I like is similar to the stuff most Centralites seem to like (Vegas, mid-century, bar ware, etc). I also drag home rocks, sticks, and rusted bits of metal. I'm easily amused. |
