Van Halen will be on tour this year. So they have announced. How long will the tour last???
I say three shows and the tour is canceled.

On a side note does VH=tiki? maybe. In a "six degrees of kevin bacon" sort of way.
What is it?

I dont know how to post photos or album covers.
But David Lee Roth did a LP after Van Halen called "Crazy from the Heat"
and he was standing in the ocean, by a small tropical island.
very tiki looking in my opinion.

Their bassist had some sort of Flash site with tiki, or was that Rush...

I say they disband before the first show.

I saw them in 1979 and 1980. That was the best show evar.

Haha, my thoughts exactly.

How long will this tour last??? Until David Lee Roth's hairpiece gets too oily from all the walker-aided jumping around on stage.

I say 4 1/2 shows and the tour is over.

Swanky - That was Alex Lifeson's Tiki bar that you're referring to.

T

I don't want to wager on this-I have memories of the original Van Halen (w/ David Lee Roth) & never accepted Sammy Hagar-that said, thinking about this, it reminds me of how much older I am-but still, when I hear, "Jamie's crying"...I'm transported back to high school (well, maybe not high school, but skipping high school)...

What about the Police?

Is there a pool for them too?

M

Right there with ya Thistle! Love that song.

Rev Boo = + 1 for the Police Pool

Rush still rocks! Went onto U Tube the other night looking for Morgan Rose Vids and found Neil Peart bangin sticks too. What a treat!

The shows over once someone sobers up, or brown M&Ms are served in the dressing room.

How about a different wager: how many aging rock-star jokes will we hear before the tour starts?

I'd be suprised if they finished the tour.

Heard about this the other day too.

With the announced reunions of Van Halen and the Police, it was only a matter of time until the name Led Zeppelin was thrown into the mix. Rock photographer and Jimmy Page friend Ross Halfin wrote on his website, "John Paul Jones has apparently announced on a Toronto radio station that Led Zeppelin will tour next summer. This of course meant I woke up to a load of mail asking if it's true. Look, I'm not a Led Zeppelin website or news board, I'm sure the official announcement will be out soon with all the details on Jimmy Page's website. The tickets are bound to be cheap -- you can re-mortgage your house to see your heroes."

Jones is supposed to have made the announcement on CILQ-FM, but the station's "Rock Report" says, "None of us have spoken to John Paul Jones recently. If we had, we'd all probably be asking for bass lessons. So to the (idiot) out there spreading rumors... and leading on Zep fans around the world -- your time is gonna come... So once more -- no Zeppelin reunion to speak of. Don't let anybody tell you different."

Of course, that hasn't stopped the British tabloid The Sun from going with the story. Their version says Page, Jones, and Robert Plant met two weeks ago in their management office and quoted a "band insider" as saying, "If the right offer comes up, they will do it," adding that a stadium tour could bring them over $12.5 million.

The late John Bonham's son Jason is supposed to take his father's place on drums. Jason has in recent years been a member of Foreigner, which has dates booked into October.

Swanky wins! Hot off of Blabbermouth.net:

According to Pollstar.com, the VAN HALEN tour that was never officially announced is now officially postponed indefinitely. The rumored tour took on an air of reality after a trade magazine announced that original singer David Lee Roth was about to sign on the dotted line, and that was soon followed by a press release via Eddie Van Halen's spokeswoman-slash-girlfriend. Unfortunately, the worldwide frenzy of a VH reunion was too good to be true, at least for the present day. However, there was a lot of paper getting inked and Pollstar states that a tour announcement might not have been far off.

Sources also tell Denver's Rocky Mountain News that VAN HALEN's performance at next month's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony may also be in jeopardy too.

A few days ago, RollingStone.com uploaded the first official photo of the new VAN HALEN lineup, featuring the group's new bassist Wolfgang Van Halen (son of VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen). Check it out at this location.

In an exclusive interview with RollingStone.com, VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth stated about his first post-reunion jam with Eddie, "Eddie and I wrote the songs, every note, every syllable, as if we invented a language that only we can speak. It was an easy, natural thing… When you speak a language that you both created, it's natural to go, 'I know you.' So it was very easy. There wasn't any stumble at all. I just showed up, and twenty minutes later, it was the usual, 'How's the wife, how's the kids, let's play.' When you're born to do that language, you speak it naturally. I never forgot it."

On how rehearsals are going, Roth said, "The chemistry is combustible. There's an explosive sound there that is, I think, perhaps… unless you were there, which most folks weren't, than you may have forgotten. This is really sophisticated, smart stuff. Everybody's at the top of their game in terms of… it's not just intangible things. My voice is arguably better than it was when I left the band back when. I love what I do, perhaps for some different reasons now than I did, more so than I did. It's a privilege to do what I do for a living."

VAN HALEN will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on March 12 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

I gotta give credit where credit is due...you guys were right. Too bad you didn't actually have some real money on the table for this one.

http://www.vhnd.com/articles/070222-02.shtml

Happy now?

Oh well. I couldn't see Dave performing with that short hair anyway.

Ugh!!!

I probably should have put my money on VH!!

The Police are selling out giant arenas in minutes!!!

Oh well.

M

Could've been worse...Scott Stapp (Creed lead) passing out at the mic. during the performance you just shelled out money for.

That would be mind-boggling horrible! Actually paying money to see Scott Stapp!

I saw VH at the Angel Stadium ( or what ever it is called now). Was their first stadium show. It was arrrsome. Saw some dude od and will never forgt him flopping around on 3rd base. Maybe it was Scott Stapp? Saw DLR at a few punks gigs 79/80 in Hollyweird also. How come everyone gives the Rolling Stones shit?? They $eem to $till have thier $hit together!

A t-shirt is worth a thousand words:

Audio interview with Eddie & Alex from RollingStone.com

Too bad Eddie can't stay sober enough to make sense for the length of an interview.

On the flip side, Michael Anthony & Sammy Hagar play "I Can't Drive 55" for the opening of the NASCAR Auto Club 500:

Sammy Hagar and the WABORITAS performed "I Can't Drive 55" during the pre-race ceremonies Sunday (February 25) at the NASCAR Auto Club 500. Former VAN HALEN bassist Micheal Anthony provided background vocals on the track. Watch video footage of the performance at this location.

Even though Hagar won't be on the road much this year, he performed recently at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico with Michael Anthony and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, and he told Launch the three of them might hit the studio together. "We're thinking about, when the CHILI PEPPERS tour is over, about doing a little record," he said. "Not a permanent thing, but we've been calling ourselves CHICKEN FOOT down here, you know? A power trio. And it's so much fun playing in a power trio, you know? I haven't done it in a long time, playing all the guitar, and, and Mike and I singing together. It's pretty strong, man, it's a pretty exciting band. So we're thinking about going in the studio, and maybe making a record."

"Too bad Eddie can't stay sober enough to make sense for the length of an interview."

Poor Ed. He must be so shell-shocked from all the years of booze and high volume amps clobbering his ears. He sounded a little out of it on that interview, but it wasn't THAT bad. It wasn't like he was pullin' an Anna Nicole Van Halen. All jokes aside he really is a great musician, and it kinda sucks that all their plans were turned into a joke before they even got a chance to get out on the road.

At least Ed sounds like he has a good releationship with his son. How many burnt rock-stars can you say that about?

unless Eddie gets a day pass {like lindsay and brit brit} he's stuck in rehab ~ just like the rest of us!

From the official VH site

"I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.

I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I’m doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.

I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.

Love,

Ed"
