i don't think so. If there was, I never heard about it. You want entertainment. Canada is probably your best bet. There are Casinos speaking of bets, on both sides of the boarder. |

I don't know of any tiki in the Detroit area, but if you're into ancient arcade mechanisms, don't miss Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum. |

I second Chin's in Livonia. It's not that far to go if you have a car. |

Feelin Zombified pretty much covered it. However, there is The Jade Tiki in Bloomfield Hills, which is pretty much just a Chinese restaurant with a few tikis that greet you at the front door and a mediocre tropical drink menu. There's also the 2500 Club at Park and Henry in Cass Corridor, a fun low brow punk hangout complete with velvet Elvis and Betty Page. It's only a mile away from your hotel, and there are a few small tikis behind the bar as well as some stuff done by Speedcult. If you stop there, be sure to stop at the Comet Bar across the street. It's so bad, its good! Here are also some good non tiki bar suggestions: Vicente's on Library behind the Compuware building makes a good mojito. The Magic Stick on Woodward is a good place to see live music. The Bronx at Second and Prentis is a good dark dive bar with cheap drinks and a good selection on the jukebox. Finally, there's Cliff Bell's on Park, a fun jazz bar with great atmosphere and a notorious past. And don't forget about the City Club in the Leland Hotel at Cass and Bagley for afterhours. Cheers! I stopped by Chin tiki for a few photos the town was abuzz with Wrestlemaina 23 - kinda fun in a non tiki way. And I took a cruse by Tigers baseball field very nice (no tikis). Anyway seems like a fun town if you go at the right time (game day or events) and if I had a car I would have checked out more. thanks for all the help! |
