1950's/1960's sexy bombshells

Pages: 1 26 replies

I'm not overly confident this hasn't been discussed before, but I couldn't find it. Oh well. I am really drawn to a lot of the bombshells of the 1950's/1960's eras. I was wondering if any of the other guys here were as well. If so, who are some of the women of that time period that you like? Some of the 1950's/1960's knockouts that I find gorgeous are Raquel Welch, Elke Sommer, Britt Ekland, Jayne Mansfield, Sophia Loren, Ursula Andress, Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, Ann-Margret, and many more. I know there are a few I'm leaving off, but that's a start. I look forward to your feedback.

Retro Crush http://retrocrush.com/babes.html and Java's Bachelor Pad http://javasbachelorpad.com/femmef.html are great places to start, or so I have been told...

Thanks Rum and Unga for the links. They are so awesome. There are a lot of really hot and gorgeous ladies at them. I appreciate it.

So are there any particular women of that era that you like?

Here's a bombshell not as many people know about, but she still got around performing in Star Trek and with Elvis:

Funny thing is that I first knew her as the animal nutritionist I discovered nearly 10 years ago when my cat first got sick. Then as I was browsing some used books I noticed her name on the cover of a book about 1960s bombshells. Yes, the woman I know with a PhD in animal nutrition and highly regarded Tonkinese cat breeder was quite the kitten herself!

(And for any of those that need help with what is safe to feed your pets:)

Thanks Vintagegirl for that. First of all, that is so cool how you first met Celeste. It's neat how we will come across someone and then discover this whole other life they had before now. So did you say anything to her ever about this or not? Those are some really beautiful photos of her. She was quite the knockout. Thanks again.

No, I've never brought it up to her. Years ago, I used to either pick up my cat's food from her house in the Hollywood Hills or she would deliver to clients herself once a week. Then her business partner, Imelda, started dealing more directly with the customers. Celeste is really passionate about what she does now and she sent me the nicest, most compassionate letter upon the passing of my cat last fall. But no, I never found the right time to bring up the whole bombshell past. Still working on it as I do occasionally help promote her work in animal nutrition.

However, I do know that she still enjoys the occasional stint in front of the camera as evidenced by this entry on IMDB:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0835378/
(I can't figure out if this is a fan film or what.)

She also still signs at the occasional Sci-Fi/Hollywood convention:

(From StarTrek.com)
Jimmy Kimmel presses Celeste Yarnall to talk about William Shatner as a lover.

Oh, I totally love Celeste Yarnall in Eddie Romero's filipino horror flick "Beast of Blood" (one of the "Blood Island" movies from the late 60's/early 70's)...co-incidentally, Beast is a tropical island paradise type of horror film. The "Blood Island" trilogy films have been mentioned on Tiki Central before, too.

I was always hot for the SPY girls. Emma Peel (Dame Diane Rigg) The Avengers. April Dancer (Stephanie Powers) The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. Honey West (Anne Francis) and agent 99 (Barbara Feldon) Get Smart.

Sorry rogue,
I didn't read your post soberly.
Try this.

That is awesome that Celeste was so passionate about her work. It means she obviously cared deeply for what she was going. It was not just a way to earn money for her. Then that she actually wrote such a nice letter when your cat passed away. It shows someone who does care and has great customer service. I'm glad she found something else that she enjoys doing.

I was going to ask if you thought she was trying to keep her bombshell past a secret, but your post pretty much answered my question. You mentioned about the acting and the convention appearances. I guess then it's not something she would rather bury in her past. Good for her. It would have been interesting to see what she would have said to you if you had mentioned it.

I'll have to check out those "Blood Island" trilogy, especially "Beast of Blood." They sound like cool movies.

I always loved all those spy girls too whether they were actually spies themselves or the love interest of the male spy. Diana Rigg/Emma Peel was one of my favorites. I also loved that she was a Bond girl. I'm hooked on a lot of the women who were stars of like the 1960's whether on the big or small screens.

Unfortunately, it may be because of her past that Celeste may not have reached the mainstream with her animal work. She's been trying to get on shows like Oprah and you'd think the latest pet food scares would be the perfect time. But instead Oprah recently had on some vet that was actually inspired by Celeste's to write his own on the same subject. Maybe her past keeps people from taking Celeste more seriously (you know, like she might be perceived as just another kooky animal-loving actress.)

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. Now back to more bombshells:

They may not be actual 50/60's swinging chicks, but I have a new top four because they fit the description in every way:

Vintage Girl
AtomicKitty
Laney
Cheri Capri

I think all four of them look like movie stars!!

Thanks Unga for that link. I love it. There are some really beautiful women there. You've shared two great links with me in this thread. I appreciate it.

Vintagegirl, that's a shame about Celeste. It's not like she has some sordid past. There's nothing wrong with what she did. People need to get over it. I've seen some people in the past that Oprah should have been ashamed for having on. It is sad that Celeste can't get into the mainstream about her animal work. It's definitely a great thing she's been doing. It should be getting some attention and recognition. Thanks for that link. Those are some gorgeous bombshells with those Vespas.

The puppet girls from Thunderbirds count, right? They were swinging 60's chicks, they just happened to be made out of wood and fiberglass.

Celeste Yarnall is cool and I think it's great she has branched out into the veterinary field.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the great response and the awesome links you have posted. It's been wonderful. I've been checking out all these links to see some very gorgeous women. Wow! That's all I have to say. Thanks again. I look forward to any other feedback we get here. I hope everyone had a swingin' good weekend.

Hey everyone,

Hewey: I love the work of Gil Elvgrin. I love your crafting idea. I also am a fan of Alberto Vargas. I've got some of his pin-up girls on my wall. I love that picture you posted of the bomber. I always loved those bomber pin-up girls. So where did you find that picture at?

T.K.: Thanks for the link. I loved the stuff there. The "Nose Art" pin-up ukuleles are amazing. They are really cool. Do you do all the work on them?

Beside pin-up girls of yesteryear whether it's the 40's/50's/60's, I'm also a huge fan of a lot of the gorgeous knockout actresses of that time. I think in my first post I listed quite a few. Quite a few of them played in a lot of the swingin' spy movies of the 60's era. One of my favorites was Raquel Welch who played in "Fathom" as a sky diving dental assistant who goes on a secret mission. I actually posted a blog about it on my MySpace page. I included one of the trailers for it which advertises about Raquel's sexy body. Check it out. Here's the link to it.

If you're on MS, please feel free to leave a blog comment. If not, I guess you can comment on it here. Thanks. I've also got blog entries on other stuff that might be of some interest. Here's my page address:

Oh yeah. What are some books about pin-ups and other bombshells, or that at least feature stuff about them, that you really like?

Thanks.

I just posted a new blog post over on my MS page about Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder in Dr. No. I've even included a video of her first appearance in the movie. She's one of my favorite Bond girls and it's quite a memorable scene. Here's the blog post address:

If you check out my MS page, I've actually got posted pictures of a bunch of sexy knockouts from the Sixties era up there. I've added a few new ones in.

There are simply far, far too many to mention. But two drop-dead-gorgeous ladies from the 1960s that still get me going are Marta Kristen (Judy from 'Lost In Space') and Lara Parker (Angelique the witch, from 'Dark Shadows'). Now that I think of it, they actually look quite similar to each other. They were the Charlize Theron's of the 1960s.

I love both of those beauties you named.

BB

My favorite is Claudia Cardinale

8-1/2 • The Pink Panther • The Professionals • Once Upon a Time in the West

Wow!

Bora, you are quite right about Claudia. She is extremely sexy.
