In news today, Phil Spector was reported to have drunk navy grogs at Trader Vic's that infamous night.
This is why I stick to Mai Tai's, Navy Grog can be damaging to your health.

'...Little old Cultural Icon got mutilated late last night...

Ah-Oooo! -- Werewolves of Beverly Hills...'

Aloha OT! Thorn-in-the-paw! Oooo.

SOK

well I finally got to the New TVL yesterday.
I had 2 Navy Grogs a Mai Tai and a Mojito, and didnt want to kill anybody.
well except for the security guard that was standing around doing nothing for 6 hours,(whatta job).
We met PremEx there, first time meeting him,(very cool guy,and has been to alot of TV's), he said Navy Grogs were a bit to strong for him, he'd stick the the lighter drinks.
JonPaul of Tiki Magazine had 3 Navy Grogs and I dont think he wanted to kill anybody, but he went home with his girlfriend Marie, so I dont know what happened after we went our seperate ways.

But the Funny thing was my Dad called me on my cell, just as i was drinking
my Navy Grog to tell me about the news about Phil Spector, too funny.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

In an earlier post, I had suspected that Spector's cocktail choice of that evening would have been a Gun Club. :D
I think they should rename the drink into Phil Spector Grog now, and have a miniature hair piece as garnish...

Wasn't Navy Grog Nixon's favorite cocktail, there must be something in that drink.

O

Lol, I missed court TV but if anyone did see it, please write about it. My friend watched it, they had the manager from Trader Vic's on the stand for quite some time.

Is it any help that Phil Spector dropped by the B.H. Trader Vic's before he went home that night and played Russian Roulette with his escort? Maybe he even had a "Gun Club" cocktail there, and then...

Maybe not. Sorry, bad joke. I will try my damndest to come by tonight, to show my emotional support.

I spotted these shot gun shell mugs on the TVL bar the other night. Maybe they already offer a Phil Grog ,(Navy Grog with a shot of grenadine, that would make it weird)
The media quoting one of his ex girlfriends saying on the stand, " He was carrying a gun that looked bigger than he was. I thought he looked like Elmer Fudd"

I wonder if anyone heard Spector saying something like " Shhhh, Be veweee quiet"

In news

Under questioning by Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson, Sullivan testified
about an incident in which Spector, wearing a plaid shirt and armed with a rifle or shotgun, escorted her and a friend out of his Alhambra mansion one Saturday morning in 1997 or 1998.

"What's that for?" Sullivan asked Spector, according to her testimony.

"Protection," was his response, Sullivan said.

She also told the court that she found Spector's appearance that morning somewhat comical.

"He looked like Elmer Fudd," she said, causing some jurors to laugh.

Last Thursday, Sullivan testified she accompanied Spector on Feb. 3, 2003, to Trader Vic's in Beverly Hills, Dan Tana's in Los Angeles and finally the House of Blues in West Hollywood, where Spector and Clarkson met for the first time.

Sullivan testified Spector consumed alcohol in her presence, but said she wasn't paying close attention to how much.

Receipts presented to the jury showed Spector ordered two daiquiris at The Grill, two Navy Grogs -- a rum-heavy drink -- at Trader Vic's and two more daiquiris at Dan Tana's before ordering a Bacardi 151 rum drink at the House of Blues.

Jurors today also heard from Chai Rojana, the general manager at Trader Vic's who explained what Spector's receipt that night said. Ming Fong Chu, a Trader Vic's bartender testified that the Navy Grog is a strong drink comprised of three shots of rum.

Well that makes it clear now. Like I said, Only Mai Tais for me. No Navy Grog , daiqiris or 151 drinks at the House of Blues.

I need 3 navy Grogs after this work week.
now where is my gun at :)

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Phil should've just gotten a room at the hotel - he could have let the hotel security offer protection - and maybe a hair sylist as well - and maybe his game might have been more tight.

i thought this was going to be the first line of a fantastic garage rock n roll song! (it should be :) )

Good idea Missy Tassles. Too bad the Long Blondes already released "Someone to Drive you Home" Would have been appropriate I think.

Maybe they want to do it anyway. http://www.thelongblondes.co.uk/

:o

!!!

I did the label on one of their singles (the one we at Thee SPC released for them, funnily enough :D )

Sounds more like Yosemitie Sam than Elmer Fudd doen't it?

Stories of Phil Spector's gunplay mounted over the years, including his discharging a firearm while in the studio with John Lennon during the recording of his cover album Rock 'n' Roll, placing a loaded pistol at Leonard Cohen's head during the sessions for Death of a Ladies' Man, and forcing Dee Dee Ramone to play bass guitar to Spector's specifications at gunpoint. Cohen told "Rolling Stone" magazine in 1978 that "Phil couldn't resist annihilating me. I don't think he can tolerate any other shadows in his darkness."

The Ramones reportedly had to play the opening chord to the song "Rock and Roll High School" for eight hours straight; Years later, Johnny Ramone described Spector as "a little man with lifts in his shoes, the wig on top of his head and four guns." But he also described the session philosophically: "It was a positive learning experience. And that chord does sound really good." Marky Ramone said, "A lot of these things were overblown, and a lot of these things were alcohol-induced."

Spector prosecutor Alan Jackson in closing argument today told the jury,
” “There's a recipe for what sets Mr. Spector off,” Jackson said. “There's a reason why he does what he does.”

And what is that recipe? Navy Grog! Like I said, I’m sticking to Mai Tai’s.

Gimme a Navy Grog please.

maybe it'll kill this F'd up mood im in.

Stories of Phil Spector's gunplay mounted over the years,

Try to find someone he DIDN'T threaten with a gun. It was just a matter of time before he off'd somebody...luckily it was just some B-movie bimbo.

..just kidding

That last shot looks a bit like Hillary's hairdo.

Anyone else get the Vic's SF newsletter?

Hillary was at a fund raiser at Vic's SF last month. She was quoted as saying she wanted a Mai Tai, but her staff wouldn't let her.

Now, without getting into a political discussion, I just think it's important to note that Hillary is the first 2008 presidential candidate from any party to go on record as wanting a Mai Tai.

I believe the next step is to form a Tiki Caucus, and demand that each candidate clearly spell out their position on Mai Tais. Only then can we as the electorate make a truly informed decision.

(Even Hillary knows better than ordering a Navy Grog, or trying to order one that is.)

As of yesterday the jury was still out at a impasse.

In news today

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Los Angeles judge declared a mistrial in the trial of pioneering rock producer Phil Spector on Wednesday after jurors said for a second time that they were unable to reach a verdict.

i've been watching this trial from the start. hung 10-2 in favor of conviction. at least there will be a civil trial. Phil reportedly spent 11 mil on lawyers this time.. plus he has an expensive and spoiled Child Bride. hopefully she will make his life a living hell.
