Hi all, I would like to try my hand at carving some tikis, poles for the yard mainly. Is there a set of chisels, or a group that should form the bansis of my tools for this? I.e. what is a good starter set? thanks, Keith |

Welcome. :) I started with a 3 piece flat chisel set that cost me $10 at Home Depot. That is really all you need to get started. As your carving improves you'll want to get better chisels that stay sharp longer or others that can add more detail. Search the forums for the thread with these words in the title " tools carvers use". There is a ton of helpful information that can help get you started. Post pictures of your progress. There are plenty of friendly carvers here that can help you along the way. Now go get those chisels and start carving. Good luck! :drink: |
