Aloha! The owner of my friendly local Chinese food restaurant (that is closing), took me upstairs to show me some stuff in the office. Amongst some Asian looking carvings were 2 that caught my eye. Interesting...Polynesian? I flipped the bat over and read "Product of Papua N.G.". The price was right, as usual, and I brought them home and cleaned them up a bit. Much like the volcano bowl, there was a thick layer of funk on them. Unfortunately they both had been drilled and hung with screws and had nails driven through them too. What can you guys tell me about them? I think they will look pretty cool on the wall in my tiki lounge! I may have to get the fish carvings next time. -John |

Beautiful find! i have never seen anything from png like this. The bat is a commonly used image in carving from a few different regions, but the stingray is new to me. i am green with envy |
