Is the Biggest Tiki In SoCal at the Bowers Museum?

Pages: 1 15 replies

I went to see the Egyptian show and, immediately upon entering, I was greeted by an enormous 12 feet tall tiki!
It appears to be from Papua New Guinea, but there was no description and the reception staff were unsure except for either "Oceana" or "New Zealand." Has anyone seen it? Does anyone know?

PS - Seeing the tiki is free. It is located before one has to pay admission and the parking also is free.
BTW, the Egyptian show is excellent (far better than the recent King Tut II at LACMA) and closes at the end of the year.

I think the runner up might be the tiki outside formerly of Trader Vic's BH.
Is that tall tiki still there?
Otherwise, the next runner up may by the tiki, leaning diagonally, outside of Sam's or the ones across the street at Taco Surf.

Here is the photo of the Bowers tiki:

The biggest tikis is SoCal are more than likely at Bosko's house.
TikiRay has some large tikis as well.

Hey, and how about my Big Daddy Olu? I think we should measure our Tikis and compare sizes! :)

How about this one...?

Damn, John

Your tiki is Ginormous!
Are they commercial or did you care that for your personal use?

Looks like he could use a shower.. maybe a change of clothes .. looks like he hasn't missed too many meals.
Keep us posted what you do with him.

Good thread: Boys comparing their Tikis. Well, we all know that size does not really matter...right?

You've got these ones in Los Angeles as well:

The miniature of this tiki is in Sunset park. I estimate this one to be close to 100 feet?
