Indestructible Trader Vic's bar mixes

Pages: 1 2 replies

O

I recently found some half used bottles of Trader Vic's bar mixes in my garage that were opened over two years ago. I don't know how much preservative they put in them, but you can probably ignore the "refrigerate after opening" warning on the labels. Even though their main ingredient is corn syrup, nothing was growing in them and they tasted pretty much the same as 'fresh'. No I didn't use them, I only stuck my finger in and tasted out of curiosity. But even so, this stuff is like embalming fluid. I wonder if it would disinfect open wounds.

BTW: I threw them out, but besides a Mai Tai mix, I think I had a Navy Grog and a Scorpion mix. Only Mai Tai mix is now being sold at the Trader Vic's web site. What happened?

They may be selling it, but they aren't determined to sell many: I'll be damned if I can see where that page is linked on any of the site's menues.
