What happens when I’m making hand-pressed Tiki Tiles all day? Well, I begin to experiment. These vessels are “sketches in clay” that I put together using freshly pressed VanTiki Spooky Skull tiles. I’d load wet clay into a tile mold, press the tile, and while waiting for the clay to dry a bit (so it will fall out of the mold) I would texture and assemble these bony fellows. How did the experiment turn out? Well - they get an A+ for “Spiffyness”, but they are sadly flawed. I didn’t dry them very carefully (as they were not the main project of the day) and hence they suffered from some cracking. Both have large edge cracks (that kinda add to the antique-creepy vibe) and sadly the square mug has a crack straight through his bottom and will not hold fluids (see detailed photos below). Each mug stands 4 1/2” high and is entirely hand-crafted crafted out of glazed high-fire ceramics. As they are flawed, I’m going to kick off the auctions at only one dollar!
