Tom Terrific .... and tiki?

How many of you remember the Tom Terrific cartoon character and his sidekick companion Manfred the Wonder Dog, that appeared long ago on the Captain Kangaroo show?

As I recall, the villain in Tom Terrific was Crabby Appleton. A band in the 70's named themselves after him/it and had a hit called "Go Back". There is a band that has a myspace page with the same name and say's it's Christian Rap.

Man I miss the Cap'n and Mr GJ. It would make getting up and going to work so much better if they were still on.

Is Tom Terrific the show that had the plastic overlay that we'd
stick on the tv so we could draw on it?
And I remember playing Crabby Appleton when I was a dj in the 70s,
they had a tune called "My Little Lucy" that was really good.
