Intrigued, I did a Google and found the bar's web site: http://www.burtstikilounge.com/ On the photo page, if you scroll down to the bottom you can see photos from various angles inside the bar. Not your proto-typical, ideal Tiki bar, but looks like a fun place nonetheless. Interesting lineup of live performances -- your usual bar band one night, bellydancing the next. |

I like teh look of thsi palce. For a smaller place, ol' Burt seemed like he did a decent job with the outdoor decor. I like the paintings on the outside of the bar. |

In August I had my first visit to New Mexico. Of course I consulted Tiki Central and Critiki to see what places to visit. Well, it seems Burt's was the only tiki in the state. Had a great trip to New Mexico, loved the red and green chile, Carlsbad Caverns, and the weather but that state really needs more tiki. I didn't have high hopes for Burt's but we actually really liked it. We went on a Friday night and they were to open at 8:30pm. We showed up at 8:35. Had the whole bar to ourselves. It was tiki and kitchy. Not your classic chill tiki bar but more of a rocker lounge tiki bar. Drinks where served in actual tiki mugs and had fun looking at all the decor. We didn't stay for the bands and had a good time. I could see this bar being a ring of hell later in the night but our experince was good. Drinks were fine though one bite of the pineapple had me put it aside and caution my husband against partaking in it. While there, I checked TC and Critiki and saw there where not a lot of photos to be found so went a little nuts taking photos. |

Burt's moved to much larger space in September 2016. 515 Central Ave NW The live music events can now accommodate 600-700 people. A full Hawaiian barbecue restaurant was added as well. |
