Squirrel on a nut. I have lost track of how many of these I have seen at thrift stores. But yet I have never seen one new.

Maybe they just skipped the middleman and released them directly to thrift stores, knowing they would all end up there anyway in the course of time.

...and for those of us who have a tendency to scavenge through dumpsters and roadside residential trash piles, you can count on running across one of these black torcheire lamps at the same rate or more as you'd run across an owl or a Mitch Miller album or a Herb Albert album at a thrift shop. These things must go from Big Lots to the trash pile in a matter of a few days, seriously--next time you're riding down the street, count how many you see in people's trash--no joke!

I,m still using the same lamp (pictured above) that I pulled out of the trash many many years ago.

What's funny is that lamp is now an oven!
