eBay: Does anyone want to tell this idiot he has a Tyree and not a Tyrus?

Pages: 1 11 replies

Can't bring myself to tell this guy he has a Tyree Velvet.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Large-Black-Velvet-Nude-Original-Signed-Tyrus_W0QQitemZ180279901042QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180279901042&_trkparms=72%3A1031%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A1%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Maybe someone else can?

At nearly $4K, maybe we should just play along.

I think you just did PT .

He says he's talked to this guy, Tyrus:

The eBay Auctions reads:

I said "Believed to be by Tyrus Wong"- Upon googling, I located a telephone number for Tyrus Wong the artist described above, wondering what chances were I could actually speak with him. He answered the phone and we talked for several minutes. I asked him if he had ever painted nudes in his long career, and he said yes, he had. I asked him if he had signed his name "Tyrus", and he said yes. I asked him if he had ever done black velvet paintings, and he told me he had painted on many mediums, but he was now 97 years old and could not specifically remember if he had actually done black velvet.

Yeah, the the seller figured it out and bumped the price higher. I would still like to see the elusive Tyrus paintings claimed to be painted by said Mr. Wong.

The story alone was worth a look!

Nutin like eatin some of that tiki crow!

Funny! He ws an expert on Tyrus and now he's an expert on Tyree!

bananabobs = stevestikihut on ebay.

Dear aogiftshopcom,

Tyrus?!? Wrong guy...look up Tryee, a Tryee is worth more anyway.

-stevestikihut

Dear stevestikihut,

Thank you so much, you are absolutely correct and I have changed the
auction accordingly. My humble apologies.

-aogiftshopcom

He thought it was a Tyrus...

Wait for it....

But he was WONG.

(I kill me!)

He was "Wong" and still is!

At least I don't think anyone is going to pay that much for his velvet, But, "I May Be Wong"?

Still, it is a nice painting and if I had may more money than I had sense, I might consider it. All I can do now is watch!

Good luck, seller and bidders!

Just so we know what we're talking about after the auction goes down:

Didn't sell? I guess no one want to shell out $4,195.00 clams for this beauty?

Not sure why? Isn't this about what Minnies was charging for their velvets?
