The article also states:
"It will be the second time Bush has used the law to protect marine resources. Two years ago, the president made a huge swath of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands a national monument, barring fishing, oil and gas extraction and tourism from its waters and coral reefs. At the time, that area was the largest conservation area in the world."

Protecting the Northwest Hawaiian islands was also a really good thing. It's a place I have always wanted to visit (one of the world's most northern tropical reef systems) but I would need to be a marine biologist to do so.

Here is a good trivia question: What is the world's most northern tropical sea?

Answer: The Red sea. It has extensive corral reefs and tropical marine life.

Another good question: Are there Jungles in the mid-east?

Answer: Yes! In Iran, of all places.

Despite the good news, there's no way this can be mentioned here without it being political. Saying one good thing he did in his final days without mentioning other things he did (good or bad) is political.

I vote this topic be removed (which may, or may not, be a political statement on my part).
