Giant Sea Creature

Pages: 1 15 replies

Those that have been on Tiki Central for a long time know that this place is really called "Tiki & Great Mysteries of the Deep Central" (we shortened the title because it was too long, and because Tiki is a whole lot more collectable than giant sea creatures).

Here's a great story with pictures that completely fits in with our theme:

YUM.

That looks like the hundreds of dead jellyfish that wash up on Ocean Beach every year.

Those pics remind me of the morning I woke up on the beach of the south side of Maui, with the killer hangover of life.

I just read that they determined that it was the decomposing "skin" of a sperm whale

YUUUUMMMMM, Giant blob!

Bet it smells real purdy. Brings back memories of my grandfather's fishing boat.

Can you make a drink with this stuff?

No?

Then it's worthless.

Forgeddaboudit.

Hmmm...

Maybe it can replace the raw egg used in the original Chilean Pisco Sour recipe.

Maybe this giant mass IS the so-called 'raw egg' (those touristas will never know the difference!) in the original Chilean Pisco Sour recipe.

The secret ingredient is no longer secret!

How can I get my hands on some of this stuff?

Didn't we already beat this subject to death a couple years back when Tikichris and Trader Woody organized the 1st Loch Ness Luau and Monster Hunt?

T

There can never be enough sea creature talk. Sea creatures are da bomb.

Which makes me wonder - why is is tht most of us who are into tiki are into weird sea stuff?
I have a theory but I want to hear yours!

"octopus giganteus"
Sounds like a bad porno.

Hmmm- Tikifish poses an almost intriguing question. Okay, it is intriguing. I have no theory. I do have personal history of consuming many a tome on Bigfoot, UFO's, and various freakishnessess until one day I realized I didn't believe any of it and started focussing my attention on Penthouse, etc (I think that day must have been around puberty). So, I have no theory to a Tiki connection (my Tiki fixation came via a love of Las Vegas artificial environments) and I ask Tikifish to drop the coyness and post her theory.

I don't remember what my thereoy was anymore. Maybe it's because we're all nerds!

Here's another gelatinous blob news story!

Sadly, not with a very good photo.

Very X-Files.

Hmm, looks like a slime mold. Very strange plant, can actually locomote from place to place. Yucky, too, as the mycologists like to say...

Did anyone ever hear if they came to any official decision on just exactly what that thing was? I heard about it on the radio and the next day on TV news and then here. Maybe "they" were hoping we'd all just forget about it. Maybe "they" don't want us to know....
