Wicker find..

Howdy,

I picked this up at a thrift shop today for $30. It's a really nice looking rattan-wicker 4 shelf bookcase. About the size of an old Wurlitzer jukebox. The only problem is it's painted white. Anyone have a good way of striping the paint, or does anyone think that a nice shellac could change the color to a more natural tone? Looking for ideas..

Once wicker/rattan is painted... it's painted. You could re-paint it something funky like a red laquer.. Give it the exotic look of the Orient.

...or you could paint it to look like natural wicker.

My son and I created a "bamboo water shoot" as a water feature for a tropical party we put on, and we used white pvc pipes painted to look like cut bamboo poles for the water to travel in. Really looked nice.

Making white wicker look like natural wicker ought to be do-able.

Found this planter holder today at a thrift store.
