So, is there any treatment for 'boo to help it stop from cracking apart in summer heat?
Every once in a while I get the crap scared out of me by what sounds like gunfire coming from behind the bar, and when I go to check, another piece of the canopy or shelf-edging is split up.
Is there some kind of coating (I just have it singed & stained) or do I just leave it & call it the aged look?

knock out the nodes or drill 2 holes per culm.

basically it's like a steam engine waiting to blow!

relieve the pressure and you should be good to go.

p.s. my Public Service Announcement for the year! :)

Alright, thanks Ben! I'll give it a shot on the undamaged stuff.
I'll be replacing a lot, but it's a good excuse to rip it all apart to improve it, maybe try a new look.
Another lesson learned: I've splashed enough alcohol over the stuff to know that it's NOT a preservative.
Or maybe I'm just applying it wrong....

How do I stop Bamboo from splitting?

I usually offer it a few strong drinks, take it's keys and try to reason with it. . .
