Got any personal recommendations for XXL or 3X Tiki-themed shirts? I hate rayon & silk, I'm looking for 100% cotton or linen (which makes it hard). Dunno why I don't like rayon/silk but that's just me I guess :) Mahalo in advance.. James Shaw [ Edited by: royaltiki 2009-06-15 10:30 ] |

You might want to look at Lavahut: They have cotton shirts as well as the usual rayon (ugh) and silk. I haven't seen too many made of linen. I have only one that I found at Marshall Field's before the chain was gobbled up by Macy's. |

Thanks! I went through their shirts and of the designs I like I only found one that is cotton not rayon and that only goes 2X. Of course it may be big enough, I'll ask them what that size really means.. http://www.lavahut.com/hibiscus-horizon-cream-border-hawaiian-aloha-shirts-c-251-p-3-pr-19967.html |

..actually, another good idea perhaps would be to find someone who can embroider our logo old-school style onto some bowling shirts. hmmmm... |

Well, my partner -- who also wears a 2X -- got 3 or 4 shirts from there, and the sizing was somewhat inconsistent. Everything he got is still wearable; it's just that 1 or 2 shirts fit tighter than the other ones. I'm with you on rayon. I don't like it either because I find it a little too warm and don't like how it feels next to my skin. Silk is fine, but I'm constantly worried I'll spill something on it that won't come out in the wash. That happened at Christmas when I wore a brand new shirt for the first time and ended up with a bit of pizza -- topped with a fair amount of olive oil -- in my lap and on the lower part of the shirt. |

May I suggest http://www.alohaland.com ? They do cotton & Lava cloth and also long sleeve for the "corporate" look. Embroidery & team/bowling shorts page is here: [ Edited by: Hilander 2009-06-15 16:51 ] |

Thanks Hilander, but I wish they'd say what the shirts are made from. Even on the individual shirt pages, there is no mention of materials... :( |

Hi Royal Tiki Everything is 100% cotton except these two sections below- I hate rayon too  The only rayon shirts are the ones in the old school rayon section The lava Cloths are here |

I did a quick check on eBay for the vendor from whom I bought several shirts that I liked. They go by "island_style_shirts" but there are no listings at this time. You could maybe create a search that will e-mail you when they list anything? I was pleased with the shirts except the sizing runs noticeably small. |

Try Jade Fashions: I wear 2x shirts...and theirs actually fit like 2x shirts. Great prices too. |

Nice Jason, thanks for your help. Those are even cheaper. It really does make a difference when someone has bought from a website rather than going in blind.. |

I've got a 100% cotton 4XL up on eBay right now. Brand new, with tags! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=140327313069 Being a 4XL, it might be a bit on the 'roomy' side for you, but you can never tell... |

Don't let it bother you Hilander! It's a rite of passage, happens on every forum I'm a member of. Some older members just like to have fun - it's not the question, just the number of posts of who makes it. :) Doesn't bother me in the slightest bananabob; I'm an oldie on the HAMB forum and seen much worse. Most everyone here is really nice and helpful! |

You're right Royal Tiki, I've seen this since I was on BBS' at 1200 Baud. Egad! Am I that old? I'll let it go :) Did you find what you were looking for? I'd be interested in knowing when you got the shirts about the quality/cost. Mahalo |

I started by getting this one http://www.waveshoppe.com/big-mens-shirt.htm just because I met the guy on twitter and he had a discount coupon. It turned up in 2 days and fit great. But now I have a nice selection of places bookmarked. Mahalo everyone! :) |

Stop it! You guys are killing me. Hilander, (unique TiKi name) Go hang out at Hula's for a while, better yet, I'll be up surfing in a few weeks at Steamers Lane in Santa Cruz, join me for a few waves and I'll treat at Hula's Santa Cruz, we can talk Tiki. Real Tiki. Royaltiki, congrats on your cotton shirts, glad you don't have to be hate'n some poor rayon shirt, cotton is cooler while searching for "Tiki Totems" on the Hooch. You have very nice looking children and wife, that's about all I could find to agree with you on your website. Read through here and see if you can see where I am coming from. Don't get me wrong, Welcome! to TC, any expression of Tiki is tolerated here, however, stick around and you may find, (as Snapple puts it) "Better Stuff" |

Seriously, go to the GoodWill. They always have a whole rack of cotton Hawaiian shirts. Usually the selection is more larger sizes, too. Plus, they are all around $6. Can't go wrong with that. |

Yeah! Very cool, KuKu, I'm more familiar with Asilomar and Boneyards further south but I think Hula's Santa Cruz is better than Monterey. Besides I wanted to show Hilander some thrift shops in Santa Cruz to get Hawaiian shirts that have the faint aroma of weed... |
