Along my long past childhood, your fantastic theme song was some of my first taste of Hawaii. At the end of the beach, as you are crossing into your last sunset, here's to you Bob... Aloha `oe!

Saw a great VENTURE's show at Maritime Hall SF in the 90's
The Mermen were the opener
Anyone passing through Tacoma, WA should visit
The JAVA JIVE(a bar shaped like a giant coffee pot) on Industrial Way
The Venture's got their start here

damn,
sad news, but what a legacy he left us all.

Outside the culture people only think about "Wipe Out" but what a great band.

funny people who really know the Surf and Ventures stuff, know that the Surfaris were the band that wrote and recorded Wipeout, and that the Ventures, didn't like being called a surf band, but it was ok for them to do a few albums of that stuff to cash in on.
even thier huge hit, Walk Don't Run was a rocked up Version they had heard by Chet Atkins, but the song was actually a Jazz song by Jimmy Smith.
The Ventures covered many songs by other bands, and did instro versions of
vocal songs.
