I found this in one of the magazines from that year.
Notice the matchbooks, coaster and napkin next to the tiki drinks.

The Tonga recipe is a slight variation on the Tonga Punch, sounds better actually.

I see the Don's Navy Grog recipe here calls for simple syrup, while the version in Grog Log calls for honey instead. I wonder if Don the Beachcombers began using simple syrup because it was...well... simple.
