Tiki-Kate's First Tiki Tour of Southern California - 1971

In April 1971, we were living in Novato, CA. My parents decided to pull my siblings out of school, piled us all into the Rambler station wagon and headed to Southern California for about a week.

Our first stop was Disneyland.

There were a couple of tiki moments.

The slightly overexposed interior of the Enchanted Tiki Room.

And a view of the back of the exterior of the Tiki Room and the entrance to the Tahitian Terrace.

That shot makes my heart stop for a variety of reasons. Check out the red shirt that the guy on the right side of the slide is wearing. Tikis!!!

Sadly, these were the only two Adventureland pictures from the whole trip.

Next we headed down to Sea World.

I got to ride in a whale stroller. Yay!

And then we watched the dolphin show which had a big tiki in the middle of all the action.

Sincerest apologies for the crappy quality of these photos. I still need to get a slide scanner.

Awesome Kate! Thanks for sharing.

These are great photos Kate. I lived close to Sea World in '71, what a flashback! :D

Nice. I wish my parents took pictures. I'd kill to have a 1960's era picture of me at Pacific Ocean Park or THE TIKIS. I can't even remember being there. I hate my parents.
