I have have two almost identical OMC Indented Fu Manchu Mugs. One weighs 8 ounces. The other is heavier, about 11-12 ounces. Would anyone know if the heavier one would be older or vice versa? |

All that the different weights will tell you is how long the slip sat in the mold to let the clay solidify before the finished mug was taken out of it. When you slip cast molds for ceramic mugs, the longer you let the slip(or liquid clay) sit in the mold, the thicker and heavier the resulting mug will be. For instance, the 8 oz one could have sat for 20 minutes in the mold before they poured out the slip, while the 12 oz would have probably stayed in the mold for 30 minutes.(all times are approximate) Hope this helps.
