Irishcarver Hei Matau

Pages: 1 6 replies

Hey everyone,

The holidays are upon us and I am taking some custom orders for hei matau, whales tails, hei toki and coconut jewelry. These items make great stocking fillers.

My hei matau (fish hooks) are carved to a very high standard and are lashed with age-old traditional polynesian techniques. If you have your own design thats cool or if you want some more ideas, you can email me and I will send some on for you. My email is [email protected]

I also have a website which you can check out (it is construction right now though.) http://www.irishcarver.com

Thanks for stopping by,

Slainte.

Here are some pictures of my work!

looks nice - what do your posted pieces run for cost and are they US $$?

Thanks. They run at anywhere between $25 - $60 (US Dollar) depending on the size and amount of detail in it. I sold the piece in the first picture for $60. It was pretty big too, approx 3in by 1.5in.

They are beautiful. I especially like the coconut shell koru pendants.

Hey guys,

some new work that I have for sale on my etsy site.

The first one is made from extinct stellar sea cow rib bone. Shaped in to traditional style hook. The bone has beautiful texture and coloring. It is lashed with an age old polynesian technique.

The second is made from a material called corian. It is an artificial material that carves wonderfully. Again it is lashed with much attention and care.
