Good stuff, BTD. GROG like.

Some of their songs have a nice Ennio Morriconi influence, and and some their stuff has a little Rockabilly flair mixed in with their Surfband sound.

Very nice. Good find.

GROG want.

Thanks for the heads up BTD!! Good shit!! Kinda Moody and mellow. But what makes me the most happy...GROG likes it!!

I just love the name of the band.
:o

no but seriously Grog has told me that he doesn't hate surf,
he's just really bad at picking dates for the art shows at the Tonga Hut,
and always schedules it the same night as a Big surf gig.

glad you guys liked it.
I have all 4 of their other cds,
all great stuff.

yes there is a tad of Spaghetti in there Grog,
mixed with lounge and other non surf styles.

Damn you, Jeff. GROG hooked on these guys. Everytime GROG get on the computer, GROG open up Bambi Molesters in separate window and have it playing while GROG on the computer. GROG love, LOVE,LOVEthe title track,"As the Dark Wave Swells". What a perfect song.

I like the super vibrato guitar on "The Kiss Off"....

nice stuff

not all surf is amazing.
but when its done well, like these guys(and Gal) take a look at the Vids below,
your gonna fall in love Grog)
its very addictive.

here are 5 very Recent Videos they did on a Slovenian TV show.

Peter Buck of REM loves this band, and has had them open for REM when they play in Eastern Europe.

These guys are solid! I went on itunes and purchased a couple of their songs. One of my favorites is Corazon del Loco Jorge. Also like the fact that they have a wahine front and center.

a few more for ya.
here is the very moody Video for "As The Dark Wave Swells,
I think it might be going to be used for a Movie,
but I could be mixing it up with another band.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKgQMv05524&feature=related

and a very Moody song, with a bit of talking in spanish at the beginning.

Good stuff! I'm really digging Point of no Return.
I take it this is a brand new disc and not available yet? I did a few searches for it and come up empty.
Definitely want it for the collection!

Great band. Glad to see a new release on the way. I have the others and can heartily recommend them.

Maybe a tour will come with the new release, too. I'd love to see them live...

Double Crown Records in Wash state.
should have it sometime in the next few months.

read last blog, all the way at the bottom here:

in this thread on SG101:
http://surfguitar101.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=9250&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

on the 3rd page,
someone said that they got MP3s version of the new album on Amazon.com.

I will wait and get the cd and LP
but for those that are tech savvy,
or don't mind not having a real cd or LP.

enjoy.

"The Bambis are playing this Friday and Saturday at Teater ITD in their hometown of Zagreb, Croatia. It'll be a special show since they'll be joined by a horn & string sections plus an organ for a few songs, a first for them. The Friday show is already sold out (capacity of 600!) so they added the Saturday show.

God, I wish I could be there for that!

Break a leg, guys and gal!!"

I too wish I could be there.

This is an exotic surf band that cares very much about tone, mood, ambience, texture, etc,...they play with a lot of finesse, and a lot of attention to detail. Lucas approves!

:o

some new live video from the band's label,

http://www.transmeet.tv/default.aspx?id=906

When I shared an office with Gee-Dee Music in Hamburg they send in a CD-R demo. Gee-Dee Music was not inteested, I liked it and took it home. I remember when the debut album was released I was thinking I liked the demos even better.

Hey KK,

cool story,

what ever happened to GeeDee music?
that was a cool label.

Couldn't find it on the site.

and ask him.
I know they just got a big shipment of them.

Jeff(btd)

Its available on itunes

thanks for the info,
but bleeech to mp3s.
just saying.
buy the real deal.
you'll thank me late when your computer or ipod dies.

Jeff(btd)

ok, so who bought one of these.

a new band from Ventura,(Point Doom)
is covering the title song all ready.

Jeff(btd)

Wow, that was fast work but it's a GREAT tune.

I bought the vinyl... would love to hear them play live.

By pure chance I met up with Igor Hofbauer, the Croatian low-brow artist who does some of their artwork, whilst on holiday this summer in Pula, Croatia. He was having a gallery opening there opposite the cafe we had chosen for dinner. Serendipity! I bought a book of his and had it signed. Sweet!

Sadly, despite being in the same country as The Bambi Molesters for a week, they had no gigs scheduled :(

[ Edited by: 54 house of bamboo 2010-10-01 08:06 ]

Talk about serendipity... I went on their Facebook page to check for gig dates after posting the above AND THEY ARE PLAYING LONDON THIS DECEMBER!

Are you guys going as it looks like a good gig,we could possibly go?

there are a few vids of that England show if you search around for them
on youtube.

did you go Tikiwagon?

Jeff(btd)

Ah, the Bambi Molesters!

The surf band that gave my town its very own surf anthem - "Wanganui":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DggAtbOIw9o

And doubtless the only Croatian surf band that ever played a concert at Paekakeriki beach!

I have vivid memories of chasing down their back catalogue in various record/CD stores across Croatia some years ago. I hope their distribution has improved since then, or it looks like I'm back to going around asking "Da li imate CD-ploce skupine Bambi-Molesters?"
