I looked back in the threads and I think the last mention was in 07 with the release of the Tiki Farm mug. |

The restoration is on hold indefinitely. The fireplace is available for anyone interested in continuing the project. |

Wow! Another case of the slow economy stalling the Tiki revival? Now that would be something for the F.O.M. to pick up! And build a temple around it. "Build it and they will come!" |

Yeah FOM should be all over that! Maybe it could take up residence at the Tiki Motel in Lake George? |

Wow, what a perfect idea. Have a "Raising the Moai" ceremony during Ohana weekend! :) |

WOW! How did I miss that? I remember seeing tikiskip's posts but missed the fireplace. That baby is less than 2 hours from here. I hope it gets restored, but Hulacat seems to have disappeared. Has anyone had any contact with him? |

When Melissa and Greg got a truck to haul these items to Vermont I was there and Michael Tsao died a short time after the Kahiki was torn down, I had talked to him a few days before Ok on to my Moai he is the one from the left of the Kahiki as the top knot was less red in my videos of Will add this here if people are late to the party and did not see this years ago. And here is more Kahiki than you can shake a stick at. ¤(¯ [ Edited by: tikiskip 2013-10-22 11:58 ] |

The work and expense involved in either restoring the fireplace or erecting and making in some way functional the Moai is considerable. I can absolutely understand wanting the pieces, as I have traveled many hours to get a chunk of the fallen Barney out of the Mai-Kai gardens. That chunk is under a tarp in my yard and it's not that huge. I have thought about yours skip and I think you could probably hire someone to come make a brand new one for less than it would cost to have yours righted, repaired and made workable. If only the Kahiki were a bigger thing to those in Columbus, you might could sell it to the city for a dollar if they swore to repair it and put it in some city park as a memorial. The fireplace is a bigger challenge. You could repair it and make is whole, but then what? If needs a home. It's 22 feet tall. Not many places you can put it. I am sure the Kahiki was built around it. It's just a hugely impractical operation. Sucks. |
