Rapa Nui evacuated.

Just seen on the news that Easter Island is being evacuated due to a Tsunami created by the Chilean earthquake.

Let's hope the damge created by the wave is minimal, and that none of the Moai are lost.

BRITIKI hearts go out to all the peoples of the South Pacific who could be affect by this Tsunami! I think it is due to reach the island in around 30 minutes time (1.15pm BST). Here's hoping the evacuation of the Rapa Nui people goes smoothly and without human cost. The Moai are pretty resilient and I'm sure they will stand up to the ravages of mother nature...they haven't done too bad over the centuries! Once more, our thoughts are with you all, including Chile obviously.

Anyone hear any updates on Easter Island after the big quake? I heard the tsunami was not bad at all.

Haven't seen any reports of tsunami damage anywhere in the Pacific, aside from Chile itself.

Yeah, Hawaii was bracing for it also, but I've heard from friends that nothing happened there.

I'm sure the moai are safe :) (Rapa Nui)
