Do it Yourself Tiki Oil

Pages: 1 2 replies

Greetings all,

I have come across a 5 gallon pail of ~95% Citronella oil. I would like to use this in my tiki torches, but for the life of me I have been unable to find a ratio for mixing with either kerosene or Paraffin oil. As I am a chemist by trade, the mixing would be easy ... I just need a recipe.

So ...

  1. Does anyone have experience with this?
  2. And if so, what has there experience been?
  3. Has anyone varied the ratio and experienced different results ... for example, while I love the torches burning, my primary concern is mosquito protection ... as I and half of my family are O+ ... we are natural attractors.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide.

Fred

Fred, welcome to TC. That's a buttload of citronella oil! You'll get more traffic on your question if you post it in "General Tiki" instead of "Carving"

EDIT - OK, did someone move this thread or am I losing it? :o

Thanks MadDog! As a noob here I appreciate any and all criticism ... Even if I posted in the wrong place ... haha.

Has this been moved? If not I can repost ...
