On my way to the Tiki Ti last night I spotted this row of banners on Sunset for the broadway production of South Pacific in downtown LA next month. I'll get more info and post it in events. Walking distance from both the Tiki Ti and Trader Vic's. How cool is that going to be? [ Edited by: Ojaitimo 2010-04-23 15:03 ] |

Set on a tropical island during World War II, South Pacific tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples — US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush and French plantation owner Emile de Becque and Navy Airman Joe Cable and a young local native girl Liat — and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices. Considered by many the finest musical ever written, the score’s songs include such musical theatre classics as "Bali Hai," “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “This Nearly Was Mine’,” and “There is Nothin’ Like A Dame.” http://www.centertheatregroup.org/tickets/productiondetail.aspx?id=9696 |

South Pacific Rogers and Hammerstein's classic, runs from May 27th to July 17th at the recently-restored Ahmanson @ the Music Center in Downtown LA: Alas, it is not walking distance to either Trader Vic's, or Tiki Ti. |

I saw this production in San Francisco last year and it was incredible. It's not a light weight story or a light weight show. You will better understand why our fathers and grandfathers wanted to bring back with them, after the war, this fantasy of Tiki. It was just as much about loss as it was for nostalgia. |

I took my wife to this in February, it is very good! And what an escape from the cold miserable Nebraska winter. The production consistently gets rave reviews and I felt fortunate that it came to my city. If you get the chance, go! Chris |

I bought my wife tickets for her birthday. South Pacific has been her favorite since like the begining of time. We go May 29th. I was thinking about Trader Vic's for dinner. Kinda made up my mind for me. Thanks |

I just got an email from Goldstar that is offering up to 50% off of tickets. It requires registration and they will charge a service fee when purchasing tickets but it's still a greater discount than purchasing at regular price. Thought I'd share it with everyone: http://www.goldstar.com/events/los-angeles-ca/south-pacific.html |

Patti and I went Saturday night. Started with dinner at Trader Vic's (excellent)then saw the show. The show was really well done. The acting, the singing, the costumes and props, first rate. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great night out. |
