Recipe: A tart drink I created.... Any thoughts?

Pages: 1 2 replies

Interested to hear anyone's thought on this one. It is very tart as my SO loves tart drinks.

juice from 1 small orange (approx. 2 ounces)
juice from 1 large lime (approx. 1 ounce)
1.5 oz. passion fruit syrup (used Finest Call Passion Fruit Purée)
2.5 oz. light rum (used Flor de Caña 4-year)
0.5 oz. dark Jamaican rum (used Myers's Dark)
8 oz. crushed ice
Blend on High for 3-5 seconds!

Was going for something not too rummy for her, yet complex enough that I would enjoy sipping it.
I like it; was surprised that even the Myers's comes through in such a small amount.

Enjoy!

Sounds like A LOT of passion fruit to me - if you would have used syrup it would be too much (you used puree)

I would go for less and add a little vanilla syrup for the lady - you might want to try this in combination with a demerara instead of the myers(you will get a rum touch too which should be just a touch though and demerara works well with vanilla)

Give it a try before you knock it. :)

It was inspired by the Pieces of Eight, which uses even more passion fruit syrup.
I think 1.5 is just about right; more and it overpowers, although I have not tried less.
Also, in my experience, the Finest Call Passion Fruit Purée has a stronger taste than almost all passion fruit syrups.

Tim.
