Balut? I'll have to pass. Here's something from the "Would You...?" series of posts on early Bilge: Would You Balut? |

I also have a penchant for mid-century...but very specific mid-century...I used to date a woman who thought that post-1970 was what I was looking for, I started an area for 'that kind' of stuff and when we broke up it all went on eBay...had we gotten married, then I guess there'd've been a 70's room...LOL It does take some practice to accept the unwanted tactfully with grace...perhaps locating a board such as this for Africophiles and gifting them to someone who will enjoy them? |

I do have some African, South American and Asian masks etc. in my place. They are kind of like filler. There is a sort of "world traveller" escapist vibe. The majority of the crap that a lot of people start out with has been weeded out. As far as the gifts go I just grin and bear it. Life's too short to get upset about it. (I do a little) |

I keep the non-tiki (but look like tiki to the untrained eye) in the closet of my guest room. When frineds come to visit, I put out the items they gave us. |

'Just began coming Tiki-out-of-the-closet a year ago when daughter moved out and her bedroom became a Tiki-themed music room. Gotta admit, the wife and kids have done some FINE Tiki-gifting. Two wall-Tikis, cups, guitar picks, coasters, fish nets, and the ultimate, a real blowfish lamp! |
