New Dayton tiki bar seeks artwork and carvings

It looks like Dayton may have a new tiki bar by the time Surf Ohio Festiki rolls around on Aug. 14! Sloopy’s, a longtime nightclub on the Fifth Street entertainment strip in Dayton’s Oregon Arts District, is changing its name and theme to become “Bar Tiki.” The owners are using “Beachbum Berry Remixed” as the basis for their cocktail menu. They are looking for artwork, carvings and other such items from local tiki artists to decorate the bar. The Sloopy’s folks also own Chappy’s Tap Room, a successful craft brew bar and restaurant in Dayton’s south suburbs.
