Please join us for the 1st Annual 'MOD MIAMI' - 'A Swankadelic Weekend Experience For Modern Minds' located in the historic MiMo Boulevard District in Miami, with excursions to fabulous Miami Beach!

The weekend will include spectacular nightly parties, a 'Cocktail Coach Crawl to historic properties on Miami Beach, walking tours, vendor areas and a Vintage Trunk Show, Art Show, fashion, a space-age Tiki Luau, the 'MiMo Madness' street party, and a proverbial retro variety show of great entertainment and other surprises!

The event will be based at the New Yorker Boutique Hotel, offering exclusive, discounted peak-season rates to event attendees, with other events scheduled all within a short walk of the host hotel (Space is VERY limited, so make sure to reserve as soon as rooms are released for reservations). Escape winter's cold grip and join us in South Florida at a time of year when average daytime temperatures are 80 degrees and overnight lows are a comfortable 65!

MOD MIAMI Hotel Reservations now open - Book now and SAVE $$$!

Members of our Mod Miami mailing list (join our list too on the website if you haven't already done so) received their exclusive advance look at our first eNewsletter announcing the opening of Mod Miami hotel reservations at the New Yorker Boutique Hotel (along with exclusive early-bird savings options), and we're pleased to say that the response has been great, with hotel reservations already coming in!

While it may appear that the event is still far off, there are some major advantages to making your reservations now.

The first is guaranteeing your space at the event's official host hotel, which is an intimate property of only 55 rooms and which will be the center of activity for the Mod Miami event. This being the case, we're certain the hotel will sell-out long before the event. The New Yorker will be the location of Mod Miami event registration, as well as the scene of the opening night Welcome Party on Thursday, March 3, which will be an exclusive event for Jetsetter All-Access Passport holders (on sale soon in limited quantities). Additionally, the Cocktail Coach Crawl luxury coaches will depart from here on Friday, March 4th for the short journey to fabulous Miami Beach (another limited exclusive for Jetsetter All-Access Passport holders), with all of the other weekend festivities either on-property or a short walk (or 'staggering distance' as the case may be ;) from the hotel as well, putting you in the center of all the weekend's action!

Second, the hotel is offering an early-bird booking special, with all available queen-bedded rooms offered for only $89 per room per night for the event dates while supplies last, or until September 30th. Additionally, those wishing to extend their stays immediately before and after the event can do so with room savings up to 50% off the published in-season hotel rates! For example, a five night stay inclusive of the event dates in a queen room can be had for only $385 (+ tax) per room when booked before September 30th, with great savings also offered for king-bedded and double rooms as well. All early-bird rates are while room inventories last or until September 30th, so act quickly to ensure your space and get in on the savings! Extend your stay and enjoy a nice warm south Florida winter break at incredibly great prices!

Third, an early booking provides you with ample time to shop for the best available airfares to Miami. Since the event is being held in peak-season, flights schedules are numerous and fares are typically offered at better values during this time of year, so be on the lookout for great fare deals. Fort Lauderdale International Airport is not too far away as well, offering you two opportunities to shop for the best airfare values.

Locals not wishing to make the nightly drive to/from home can take advantage of the special rates for a mini-vacation at affordable rates and guarantee their attendance at the 'Swankadelic Weekend Experience' not to be missed!

Two types of tickets will be sold for the event, the 'JETSETTER ALL -ACCESS PASSPORT' and 'CLIPPER CLASS ONE NIGHT FARES'.

The 'Jetsetter All-Access Passport' will get you into all the weekend's festivities, while the 'Clipper Class Fares' will be for the individual Friday Night and Saturday events. Individual tickets will nOT be sold for the thursday night welcome party or for the Cocktail Coach Crawl to Miami Beach as these events will be exclusive to All-Access Passport holders.

Only 150 total Jetsetter Passports will be made available, with approximately 100 or so of these going to guests staying at the New Yorker Hotel, so quantities will be limited and available on a first come, first served basis when put on sale in the near future.

We're pleased to announce the preliminary entertainment lineup for Mod Miami: A Swankadelic Weekend Experience For Modern Minds - Where Modernism Meets Mod (with a touch of tiki too!).

We've put together an eclectic mix of both some names and faces (and 'tails' too!) you may be VERY familiar with, along with some that you undoubtedly will be in the future.

Perhaps the most recognizable of these may be FRED SCHNEIDER, frontman of the B-52's, along with his latest group 'THE SUPERIONS', who will be appearing live, backed by the sensational URSULA 1000. URSULA 1000' will on hand for TWO nights, contributing his unmistakable groove to the event's festivities. Fred and 'THE SUPERIONS' will also be availing themselves for a 'meet and greet' in an intimate setting for those interested in pressing the flesh.

Some other familiar names include the sensational 'MARINA THE FIRE EATING MERMAID (Medusirina)', the sensational surf sounds of 'THE INTOXICATORS!' and spacey simian antics of 'THE DISASTERNAUTS', who made their world debut when they were discovered in the Tiki Garden at the Jetsetter Lounge on one of the Hukilau Intergalactic Grand Finales some years back (going on later to earn a place in the 'Hipster's Hall of Fame').

Another 'Hipster's Hall of Famer' on the bill is our friend 'JIMMY CAVALLO & HIS HOUSEROCKERS', playing his unique mix of jump blues, r&b, honky-tonk, swing/pop standards, and good old rock-and-roll! Jimmy wrote and performed the title cut in Alan Freed's 1955 classic film 'ROCK! ROCK! ROCK!', and was the first hite r&b act to perform at NYC's Apollo Theater.

Atlanta's 'THE FORTY FIVES' will be on hand laying down some 1960's style garage tracks, as will NYC DJ CHARLES GASKINS who will be spinning his vinyl ocllection of garage, funk, soul, r & b, and more!

'O SOM DO JAZZ' will be contributing some authentic Brazilian bossa nova/samba grooves, with 'STOLEN IDOLS' contributing some exotica and space age pop to the bill!

Local boys 'THE GOLD DUST LOUNGE' (named after he famed and now defunct jazz club in the Miami MiMo District) play some fine sounding original instrumentals.

'THE MODERNAIRES' will be adding their mix of ska, reggae, and soul to the weekend's action too.

Another face you'll see is 'ANNA COPA CABANNA', shaking her stuff and doing her unique thing throughout the course of the weekend!
