My First Mask Carving!

I thought I would share my first tiki carving! This is a mask I carved from a piece of yellow pine plank.

After adding a little stain...

Here is the mask mounted inside a frame. It's roughly 30" x 22" in size. My original idea was to add some tapa designs to the back board and then put strips of bamboo on the frame.

I later decided to put the strips of bamboo on the back board and carve some tapa designs into the frame.

Here is the finished carving as it hangs in my living room.
