Very strange carving

I bought a job lot of carvings last week , some typical Tongan tourist pieces, and some older oceanic, but this one really stands out as strange,even a bit freaky. I suspect it is from the Solomon Islands, as were a few others and the shell inlays are similar.
Don't know if anyone has seen anything like it, but it is interesting.
