I've been looking at all of the amazing art created by the artists here on Tiki Central and occasionally snagging them and using them as wallpaper on my iPhone. It got me to thinking, would there be any interest in having a contest to create some tiki wallpapers and see what people can come up with? I don't have any ideas for prizes yet, but if there's enough interest I'm sure I can come up with some things (or maybe people would be kind enough to sponsor it and offer something up). Voting could be done by everyone here on TC.

To make things easier, I have a Photoshop template (thanks to http://www.teehanlax.com) which can be used to help figure out positioning of elements. Art should go where the ARTWORK GOES HERE layer is. It's all at actual resolution for the iPhone 4 retina display. You can download it here: http://cl.ly/3cZI

Even if you don't have an iPhone 4, consider that more than 50,000,000 of them have been sold worldwide, so there's definitely a demand. Slap the URL to your favorite website in there and get a lot of free advertising.

So, any takers?

Sounds interesting! Any way to get a version of the file attached in a non ZIP file?

Some old ones. I haven't done any tiki recently. There's 3 or 4 in my uploads.

I don't see an 'art goes here' layer - just the background layer...? I will assume that the art should fit like so:

Izzat right?
(just a sample, not an actual submission for this if we get all contest -y)

Almost... depending on the version of Photoshop you're using, you should see this in the layers panel:

It goes where the red layer is. This allows the lock screen elements to properly overlay the background with transparency and such so you can see everything works together.
