What are the logistics in shipping liquor overseas? Many shippers won't carry it, and customs may have issues as well. :(

If it is properly marked for the contents, I think it is fine. Fed Ex ships liquor for sure. 151 is becoming an issue though. Over a certain proof, it does not fly I am told.

Hey tikiwagon, I managed to buy Goslings Black Seal 151 in Edinburgh last week - possibly the only bottle for sale in all of Scotland! Robbed me £33.25, which isn't too horrendous. I got it from Royal Mile Whiskies, who have a shop in London and will ship. The Whisky Exchange (also in London) sells the same stuff slightly cheaper and also ship. Tried it in a 1950 Zombie (recipe in Sippin Safari) - delicious, and I barely recall eating dinner that night.

I've found a surprising amount of ingredients locally the past month - falernum, orgeat and passion fruit syrup, creme de cacao and one demerara rum (OVD) that is highly popular in Scotland and, it seems, nowhere else! All available in Makro, bar the falernum. Makro also sells Brugal rum a lot cheaper than my 'specialist' shop (Peckhams in Glasgow).

Macadamia liqueur I can't help with - I last saw that on sale in New Orleans and regret not buying it! Whisky Exchange sells a Monin macadamia syrup though (didn't see that one in Makro!). And St James rum!

Hi Cathuna
I was considering the gosling 151 and have already used the whiskey exchange(and drinkshop)but the 2 main things that elude me are a demerera 151(preferably lemon hart) and macadamia nut liqueur,I know some people have sent stuff and not marked whats inside and taken a chance with customs so i was hoping anyone might send some over to us poor rum starved brits!

Keep in mind that Lemon Hart 151 currently isn't available anywhere. It should be back on shelves soon.

Am curious as to whether anyone has a definitive answer on legality of shipping privately to/from the US.

when i looked at private shipping within the US recently I concluded that it is verboten and one must go thru retailers.

(also, just bought my first bottle of LH 151 a week ago. From the comments here re availability it sounds like I should try to hoard more?)

I know its technically not allowed but its been done before by members?
